A lot can change from the opening to the closing bell. The day started with a halt on trading of BioNTech (BNTX) because of the apparently positive news about the mRNA vaccine they are working on with Pfizer. While BNTX started the day strong - up as high as $79, it gradually started giving back its gain, finally closing down almost 4%.
Other key COVID VACCINE Stocks took a major hit and did not recover. Recent winners like Inovio gave up almost 27% and Vaxart was down almost 10%. Moderna and Novavax lost over 4%. Inovio was the second worst performer in the stock universe.
The big winner amongst the carnage was Sorrento which managed a gain of over 10%.
18 of the 25 stocks were down with only seven up. The average COVID VACCINE Stock lost 3.7% for the worst day we've seen so far.
This may be an inflection point as we get into actual clinical results that just don't live up to the lofty hopes and dreams of spectators and speculators.
